Anyone working for US based startup from Canada + Stock Options handling

Looking for some pointers on tax handling while working for US based start up and living in canada as a permanent resident, for my spouse.
Also, if you could share experience specifically on how Stock options (not RSUs) would be handled when exercised and sold while living in Canada, would there be double taxation first in US, then in Canada?

Any suggestions here? Or recommendations for a cross border CFA/analyst/expert who can help with these complex scenarios?

You’ll probably have to work as an independent contractor. This has been discussed before here: Working remotely in Canada for US company

Not sure how you’d handle stock options though. US-Canada have a tax treaty so you will not be double-taxed.
