Currently my wife’s employer is working on filing my wife’s work permit for Canada. They are also helping me file a dependent open work permit. Assuming that both of our work permits get approved, should my wife be the first one to enter the country as my work permit is only a dependant’s work permit. Or, since I have a open work permit for myself I can come before her.
In case of PR, the primary applicant needs to enter the country either before or with the dependent. Even though you would have an open work visa, it would be as a dependent so I would assume that your wife would need to be present either with you or before you, in Canada.
@vik - Any idea about the open work permit situation?
