We recently moved to Toronto like couple of weeks ago. My answers are going to be purely based on my own experience and some of them might not fit for your situation or might have better solution. So please make your own decision during this move.
- I am not sure about your job situation, but if you already have a job offer in hand, then you could get an apartment/condo for lease right from US itself. It did happen in our case. Offer letter and US credit history either Equifax or Transunion credit report will do. In case you want to go with this lease idea you could make sure that you have mobile hotspot service on your wireless plan for a couple of days and then once you are here in Canada in your 14 day quarantine, you could reach out to Rogers/Bell salesmen so that they could help you get your WIFi setup online and deliver the self starter wifi modem with instructions to your door. For this purpose and instacart grocery deliveries, please keep at least a couple of your US visa/MasterCard credit cards active. Also please follow this post to get a better idea on shipping your belongings, car and other important things like goods to follow list etc.

we stayed in our newly leased condo during our quarantine without any issues. Showed the lease agreement to the border officer. He asked a few questions about groceries and utensils. Luckily we travelled by a suburban rental carrying all our essential kitchen utensils and bedding.

I heard car is quite expensive. And Also electronics and furniture seems to be expensive too. So please plan out in case you are planning to upgrade your TV or furniture. Please do so in US itself and ship it so that you could save a lot of initial setup costs here.

we got our SIM cards delivered to our door during quarantine from Rogers and we have taken a plan with two lines for 70 CAD for one and 45 cad for another with 15GB combined data at 5G speed but regular speeds after that unlimited data, calling and texting in Canada.

I opened a Tangerine checking account online and it must be activated after quarantine. They have association with scotia bank and so can withdraw from Scotiabank Atm. I also opened RBC savings account from US and booked an appointment for opening a checking account after our quarantine.
Hope this helps.
