Will the insurance provided by my employer will cover me and my family until I get Govt issued health card ( Which takes upto 3 months i think). This is for QC provience. I read on a website that private insurance is a supplement to public insurance so I am worried about coverage for the first 3 months.
Depends on the type of Insurance your employer provides. Typically employers provide supplemental insurance to cover prescription charges, vision and dental etc. However the supplemental insurance requires that you have primary insurance.
Primary insurance could either be provincial insurance or a private plan that provides “Provincial Replacement Coverage”. My employer offered the latter for the first 3 months of employment for me and my family.
Check with your HR, before joining and they should be able to provide you with the details.
