Most things mentioned here are CAD, especially salaries in Canada. Also if someone talks about something in Canada and mentions $, itâs almost always CAD.

@ggsrivas this is an ancient thread so the salary ranges are outdated. Depending on your skill, a staff swe can get a total compensation of $200k+ Check levels.fyi for Toronto to get a better idea.

As far as I know, Staff s/w engineer is usually a leadership technical role, not unlike principal architect (higher than team lead/Sr. engineer).
@srhere staff swe is usually L7 in one of the âbig techâ companies. Senior software engineer is L6 usually. It may vary a bit between companies.
