Great post. Thank you.
Wondering if you moved the mattresses and what preparation you had to do if you moved them. Can you share please?
Did not move mattresses. They require fumigation etc, too much of a hassle. Check CBSA for requirements.
I moved 2 mattresses in the PODS storage container when I moved last year from US to Canada. I did not have any issues/questions asked specifically about the mattresses. I had explicitly added the mattresses in the goods to follow list.
Hi. Does anyone have experience with shipping with USPS? I am only moving a few of my personal items (6 boxes with an average weight of 65 pounds) from the US (Washington DC) to Canada (Toronto) and so a relocube will be way too big for a small shipment. UPS location I went to quoted me about USD 3,000 for the 6 boxes
We shipped 2-3 medium size boxes with Fedex from California to Toronto. It took around 2 weeks to arrive. It cost us about 250 USD.
I think the main reason it gets expensive is that the boxes have to go through customs. In fact, all the boxes were clearly opened and checked (I am guessing by the border people).
Thank you, @arjun-humain ! I ended up shipping with UPS. It costs a little more for me as most of my boxes were overweight. May be a good thing to keep in mind to not go over the regular weight limit.
