We have not been able to meet our Canadian PR requirements and have decided to stay in the US. Anyone give up their PR status? If so, can you please give some tips? Do people give it up voluntarily before the card expires or wait for it to expire and then give up? Have been getting mixed advice hence wanted to get an opinion on the forum.
Following as I am in a similar boat. I’ve gone past the 3 year mark, and at this point, it doesn’t make sense for me to move to Canada and face PR non-renewal related challenges. So I am planning to let my PR card expire, or will voluntarily give it up and get Canadian visa instead.

You don’t need to give up anything. You can shred away your PR card once it expires.
