DS 160: Are you permanent resident of country other than your country?

Hi all,

I was born in india and im on H1B working in USA.
I applied through express entry and i have been given permanent residency stamp in my passport. but i have not activated it yet. Im yet to visit canada in april and activate it.

Im filling DS-160 and there is a question
“Are you a permanent resident of a country/region other than your country/region of origin (nationality) indicated above?”
I think i should answer no. is that correct?

@basavanagudi I would answer ‘no’ since you’re not a PR unless you land by air/road in Canada and the stamp is just a one-time visa and not a PR visa.

thanks!

Hi, Can you share your experience. Finally did you answer “NO” and your passport is stamped with no issues?

I am in a similar situation. Please help

Was in the same situation few weeks ago, I had answered no since I had not landed yet, but landed on the way to India. no issues during visa stamping or POE. At POE (SLC), the officer looked at the IM1 visa stamp for a moment, but didn’t ask anything about it.
