I’m getting a mortgage here in Canada, and have found that mortgage interest rates are not revealed to the public, at least not the best possible rates. You would have to chat with mortgage specialists from multiple banks to get a competitive rate. I’ve found the experience to be time-consuming… On the one hand, I’d like to talk to a few sources to find a good rate, but on the other hand, it takes up a lot of time and I’m reluctant to give away a lot of personal info just to get a slightly better rate.
Dealing with individual banks is a pain, have you been in touch with mortgage brokers? They can do this shopping for you and figure out the best rates or plans based on your situation.
