I am a new immigrant and looking to find interesting opportunities in Toronto, Quebec, Calgary or Vancouver.
I am also looking to understand the PEO/Contractor route to finding jobs with companies in the US.

Don’t worry about PEO/Contractor thing. That’s probably the last thing to consider when working remote with US companies.
Getting a job is totally up to how you market yourself and search for the jobs.
If you already have a job, then you need to decide whether to work as an independent contractor or as a corporation. PEO is a choice usually made by the employer. the job seeker has no say in it.
