did anyone used one-way car rental from boston to Montreal or near by areas recently. I called AVIS and Enterprise and both are saying that due to covid they do not allow one way rentals now. I need to travel by 5/6.

We did notice this, as we were looking for one way rentals from Newyork however when we called she mentioned there are no restrictions as such it was just the demand was higher than the supply and hence less cars available.
Either ways we are not finding any one way rentals to Toronto!
You can explore Amtrak option to Montreal or flights I suppose! All the best!

If you are not to get a car rental till Montreal…
then you can book it till the drop point which is closest to your border entry point inside USA…
Drop the car there, take a taxi to the border and walk to cross border…
Then again take a taxi to your destination or to the car rental office closest to border inside Canada…
