I am currently in New Jersy. My Canada work permit is processing in Newyork and it exceeded the normal processing time. So, can I walk into the embassy in NY and request for the status of my application? Is it possible? If so, kindly suggest me the process?

as far as I know even when you call Canadian Embassy. they do mention it on phone that they can not help or provide any immigration related queries. so I would say you can not walk in to get info or status about your application. I would suggest filling out web form for your query.
