URGENT Corona Virus Impact on Landing

Thanks! Are the planes all full? Are people wearinf masks/ taking precautions?

I landed today via Rainbow Bridge using a one way Enterprise rental. I wasn’t asked anything on rental car return on the border. Only question that was asked was if I was importing this car or is it a rental. I did contactless dropoff at Enterprise in North York.

Are you planning to stay for 14 days for self quarantine? Or are you allowed to return to US without any need to quarantine? Have you heard/read any thing about it? Thanks!

To what i come to Know, 14 day quarantine is manditory for any person travelling to Canada. I am planning for 14 days stay in Canada before returning to US.

[COVID19 and H1B suspension EO impact on AVR]

Anyone planning for soft landing and re-entering United States using AVR after the executive order suspending H1B went into effect today?

My CoPR expires in first week of August, so trying to make a decision whether to go ahead with landing in July or contact IRCC for extension.

Appreciate your inputs. Cheers!

I am in the same situation. I have planned my travel next week. A lot of difference in opinion about the proclamation. Not sure how we will be handled in the immigration. Will let you know if I happen to receive any information on my end. Expecting the same on your end too. Thank you.

Hey @tvmkamal , Thanks for responding.

AVR is not affected by this proclamation, confirmed with CBP pre-clearance by AILA. Here’s a link to the tweet by Greg Siskind, https://twitter.com/gsiskind/status/1275888667953967106?s=20

Good luck with your travel. Stay safe!

I am also planning for soft landing and re-entering United States using AVR.

My CoPR expires in September, but my dependents are in India and unable to return back to US due to the executive order. So thinking about whether to go ahead alone with landing in August and contact IRCC for extension of my dependents.

Appreciate your inputs. Cheers!

Hi Guys,

I made my trip to Canada via Air and currently Quarantine myself. The trip was fine and everything at the immigration went fine as others have mentioned. Actually I am making this post as I found this forum discussion, which might be useful for people you haven’t made their travel yet.

Thanks alot for sharing the details. As per your observation, do you feel there’s no need of quarantine plan if entering through road?

Quarantine is needed either way, road or air.

I think in this case, because they were returning immediately, it wasn’t required for them,

IRCC updated their guidance on soft landing today. (July 10th)

"If you come to Canada, make sure you’re exempt from the travel restrictions. You won’t be allowed to enter Canada right now if you’re traveling for reasons like:

  • tourism
  • recreation
  • entertainment
  • to finalize your permanent residence application but not settle here yet

These are not valid reasons to come to Canada right now."

This is disheartening. Does this mean those of us who aren’t ready to settle in Canada can extend?

I traveled by air and quarantine myself in Canada now. This is something I found following the forum and I am reading some many people have tried doing the same and being successful. You can make a call to CBSA to make sure that option still exists for us. As there are some updated on IRCC website its better to make that call to CBSA before you make an attempt.

We may need to see anyone traveled after July 10th without settlement plan and returned back without any issues.

Out of all entry points, which one do you suggest is the best one for soft landing?
